Startup life is intense and demanding, often lasting longer than anticipated.

To optimize the journey as you build, scale, and grow your business, consider how resiliency will improve your outcome.

Optimism. Focus on your vision and optionality. Often, a crisis leads to a new opportunity, and everyone doubts your success until after it's obvious.

“The cynics get to be right,

optimists get to be rich."

- Alex Hormozi

Insight. Identify the stressors affecting you, naming them without judgment.

With each one, determine one step forward to evoke change, no matter how small e.g. drafting an email, outlining a plan, or initial research.

Adaptability. Facing the unknown and reforming habits are surprisingly hard, even when change is for our benefit.

With any change, it helps to identify the pros and cons and decide if the outcome will be worth the strain.

“Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving,

we get stronger and more resilient."

- Steve Maraboli

Compassion. Forgive yourself quickly for your mistakes. We often do this generously with friends, so treat yourself as you would treat a friend.

If you make a mistake, accept responsibility, apologize, and fix the damage. Later, share what happened and your plan to prevent it from reoccurring.

Resilience in Action

Here are some ways to be more resilient over the long, rough journey ahead.

Connection. Review your current relationships and only connect with people who genuinely support you.

Foster two types of relationships: 1) people who support you unconditionally and 2) who challenge you to be a better person. Meet them frequently.

Helping. How can you muster the energy to help others if you're struggling?

Volunteering actually can be selfish since it positively redirects your attention, reinforces your self-worth, and provides a sense of fulfillment.

Persistence. Keep practicing your resilience mindset and actions with intention. Block plenty of times weekly for physical and mental health.

If you are not seeing desired results in any area, make changes. Sometimes, you may benefit from a professional coach or expert advice.

Constancy. The path to success is winding but hold your ground.

“Change is the only constant."

- Heraclitus, Greek philosopher

During the chaos of constant change, recognize your control and choose consciously and carefully based on your desired outcomes.

Incredible success as a founder is possible, but only after a long journey. With a resilient mindset, you're ready to scale your business.
