FinTech Fundraising

FinTech Fundraising in 2024

Preparation, Strategies and Execution

As startups navigate a challenging capital-raising environment, they must make well-informed decisions, even while knowing the capital markets could open up soon.

While we can't predict the future, we can certainly prepare for it by learning from those who have successfully navigated similar paths.

In this webinar, recording linked, we dove into pivotal challenges and groundbreaking opportunities for growth. We addressed the following questions in this order:

  1. How has fundraising changed for FinTech startups this year?

  2. How do you know when you are ready to raise a Series A or B?

And if you’re ready, what do you need to do to prepare for a Series A or a Series B?

  3. How do you go to market with a capital raise?

  4. How should I think about the relationship between equity and debt capital?

  5. How do you get your first credit facility or sponsored bank when you may not have the traction to meet their requirements?

  6. What do you think about consumer vs B2B fintech?

  7. If you’ve just launched a product and have strong PMF signals but minimal AUM, are projections enough?

  8. What is the range a VC or firm might look for in equity for Series A?

  9. We are an enterprise B2B SaaS and have been doing a bridge round (friends & family) to help with long sales cycles, finding it hard to raise as pre-revenue. What advice can you give?

  10. Can you touch on the seed stage funding environment for B2B SaaS in fintech?

What are the profile and metrics of deals getting done?

  11. Suppose a company is acquiring leverage to lend to its clients (onlend). Is it better to set up an SPV to fund the transactions or directly borrow in the company (which will require more equity to meet the leverage ratio requirements of the onlender)?
